She’s had a few gigs before I came along, one of them being a chaplain for the United States Navy. 20 years after being discharged. She wants to do it again. Fearfully and hopefully, I hope she does. This afternoon brought a conversation about her future that I never thought I would have with her. She plans to enroll in a certification program for Women’s and Children’s ministry. With her certification, she can continue pursuing a Bachelor’s – which she needs to become a Navy chaplain again.
Ministry. Something she does without the church building, without jewelry, nice clothes and makeup (all things she makes and is truly amazing at – with a business to show for it), without asking questions, with all her kids and all of her heart, mind, soul, with her life. Fighting for our God, for all of us.
